Launch of the “Workplace Harassment Prevention and Response Committee”

· 2 min read

We are excited to announce the creation of the “Workplace Harassment Prevention and Response Committee”, an initiative that marks our 30th anniversary and reinforces our commitment to ethics and to the well-being of every employee. The committee was created in response to recent updates to Regulatory Standard 5 (NR-5), which now includes specific guidelines for combating harassment in the workplace.

Changes to NR-5 and their impact:

In December 2022, Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MTP) Ordinance No. 4219 brought significant changes to NR-5. The Internal Accident Prevention Commission (CIPA) was renamed the “Internal Commission for the Prevention of Accidents and Harassment”, reflecting its new responsibility for measures to prevent and combat harassment in the workplace. The standard also now requires companies to provide specific training on harassment.

Types of Harassment and Their Consequences:

Harassment falls mainly into two categories: moral (psychological) and sexual. Moral harassment involves repeated and prolonged exposure to humiliating and embarrassing situations. Sexual harassment, on the other hand, involves unwanted conduct of a sexual nature. Both forms of harassment have devastating consequences for employees’ mental and physical health and for the workplace as a whole.

The launch of this committee is a significant milestone in our three-decade history and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to ethics, compliance and the well-being of our employees. We are committed to creating a safer, more inclusive workplace for everyone.

We welcome your questions and feedback. This is a significant step in our journey to strengthen our organizational culture and regulatory compliance.
